Project: City Moments in Black and White

Leaving behind their villages and their small communities, people gathered in cities. Urban centres began to grow, trade flourished, roads were laid, grand buildings rose, and life took on a different form. It became hurried. Time seemed to shrink, even though the hands of the clock still mark out two full twelve-hour turns before the day changes.

The young rush on, while the older ones stand and watch them, light-footed and restless, sometimes with envy and sometimes with nostalgia.

November is cold and damp, ideal for capturing such moments through the photographic lens. We stripped them of their colour and left them bare in black and white, allowing them to reveal the aesthetic of winter, the souls of the people, and the urban landscape we stole from nature in order to expand our kind.

“The city is not a concrete jungle, it is a human zoo.”
